Babesiosis is a disease caused by the protozoan Babesia spp. and transmitted by blood sucking ticks. It became extremely often in dogs in Poland. The aim of this paper was to present a clinical course of babesiosis

in 10 years old queen, presented with the symptoms of weakness, anemia, fever and hematuria. Hematological examination revealed anemia, decreased hematocrit and thrombocytopenia. In blood smears a small inclusion bodies inside erythrocytes, resembling Babesia canis merosoites, were seen. The PCR has demonstrated genetic material homologous in 87% with Babesia felis and in 95% with Babesia canis. Then the treatment with imidocarb dipropionat (5 mg/kg b.w.), was introduced. Four injections with 14 days intervals resulted in a full recovery. The results of laboratory examinations, supported by the effi cacy of treatment have confi rmed the infection with Babesia spp. in that female cat.
